After 21 years of restoration, the Colosseum’s dungeons have finally been fully reopened to the public.
During the visit you’ll uncover the Colosseum’s s 2,000 year bloody history and gain restricted access to sites only accessible with accredited guides.
Inside, you’ll walk the same steps as the gladiators on the arena floor, off limits to the general public. The arena floor give’s you the perspective of the ancient fighters and also an excellent view into the Colosseum’s dungeons, where gladiators, prisoners, and imported animals were kept before their slaughter.
Next, you’ll venture into the dungeons, a labyrinth of passages and trap doors which were used to bring doomed people and animals up to the Colosseum stage.
You’ll also have free time to explore the Colosseum’s 1st and 2nd levels before we head to the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
In the Forum, we’ll visit pagan temples and tombs, the house of the Vestal Virgins, the Senate house, and Julius Cesare’s tomb, among other important ancient ruins. You’ll also have special access to tunnels and ruins closed to the public in the ancient city.
NOTE: You must provide. your full and correct name at the time of booking, and bring corresponding ID. Failure to do so will result in Colosseum guards refusing entry.
